You’ve made a home

for all these butterflies

In my heart.

They’ve carefully woven their cocoons in

Every nook and cranny of my soul.

And with your every word, every action

More and more of those tender butterflies

Entangle themselves

In my heart, my lungs.

Choking me, making me gasp for air.

And soon enough, they strain against

The bars of their cage, longing to be set free.

And finally, cracks appear in my bones.

A final strain, and they burst through,

Finally free.

Exploding like fireworks in front of me,

Constellations in my eyes.

And your love

Heals all the cracks

In my being and bones-

Seeping through them

And patching them together.

And now, I finally feel free

And complete under

The blissful spell of love –

For you, my dear,

Have made me whole.

In my mind’s house

You came along

And settled in.

You filled it up

With all your belongings-

The potted blooms of love,

The picture frames of memories,

And fairy lights of countless smiles.

And now, you’ve made

This house of mine

Home.

Warmth

Last night I dreamt

Of you and your warmth

That engulfed me.

A utopia so blissful

I clung to the last

Wisps of that heaven

And in my waking moments

Chased after that warmth

That felt so real, tangible.

And as I opened my eyes

I found that I

was reaching out towards

my window –

I reached out

To the sunlight.

I see a lonely path ahead
whose twigs and leaves and dirt I tread
the gentle winds that kiss my face
wrap me up in an airy embrace

the dense thickets of trees at first
now are faded and interspersed
the few old trees which now I see
have but a leaf in entirety

as I sit beneath the bough
of an old crooked weeping willow
its frail twigs gently rip apart
these seams of mine which were stretched taut

now I hear fresh droplets patter
both overhead and on my shoulder
after a moment of reprieve
I stand back up with a lack of ease

I trudge back through the sludge and mud
my cheeks from the stinging cold now flushed
I set foot upon the lonely path
whose twigs and leaves and mud I tread

curled up in her bed, all she could dream of was the splash of water, the gentle lapping of it at her skin. the bluish tones that surrounded her, slowly engulfing her, as though consuming her whole. the tickle of stray droplets fresh on her face, the pleasant chill that flowed through her veins. she closed her eyes, simply sinking down, down, down into the endless depths of the water, as it slowly swallowed her whole–mind, body, and soul. the freedom the water gave her, and the constricting feeling it washed her over in, created a most enthralling juxtaposition. finally, she was at peace. it was a dream she wished she would never have to wake up from.

we are no different from the ravaging creatures we call beasts- we kill, maim, and tear lives apart. and yet, the audacity that we have, to call ourselves the superior race. for in truth, is our true nature not akin to that of these beasts? are we not one of them?
or perhaps, were they created in our image, as we were created in God's? whichever conclusion we may choose, it begs the question: what is it that we have, that warrants our patronizing nature towards the ones we call beasts? are we not the same?

And in the dense shrubbery somewhere, I feel as though I've lost my heart in the wilderness of it all. Nature has claimed it for herself, and shall be reunited with her once more. For it was never mine to begin with, but fashioned from the whispers she confided in Man.
And now that her secret is no longer hers to keep, she will reclaim all that is left to claim, the secrecy of all that was once known – yet vastly unknown – preserved in the leafy thickets and web of vines for evermore.
