Dawn arrives
with the little flower fairies
gathering the night's mist
and shaping them into tender dewdrops
that rest on the petals of
the humble periwinkle, as she
braves heat and storm.
And though she is seldom loved,
for her resilience has made her dull
compared to the fragrant jasmine
or the vibrant chrysanthemum,
to her, it simply means that
she shan't be plucked,
and will live to see several more
bright summer days
and twinkling night skies.
